Mister Bee Concrete Hives Proved To Be Honey Badger Proof
Honey badgers are rated as the largest threat to bee keeping in Africa. They wait for you to set up bee hives and to have them colonized then they strike! That is exactly what happened to our bee farm in Shimoni forest where we have installed many bee hives. Two honey badgers were spotted in our farm and they attacked our concrete bee hives to no avail as they are too strong for the honey badger. One Mister Bee Concrete Bee hive weighs about 100 Kgs when empty! After failing to break into our concrete bee hives, the Honey Badgers found a soft spot, our catcher boxes that we use to catch bee colonies and transfer them into the concrete bee hives. They are wooden! We had hung them up on a tree but the Honey Badgers climbed up the tree, brought the wooden catcher box down, broke it to pieces and ate the honey! We were left with a loss but we were also left with a valuable conclusion; Mister Bee Concrete Bee Hives are Honey Badger free! It’s the way to go.
Think of what would have happened to us if all our bee hives were wooden hives? Devastation is the misfortune that would have befallen our investment. This is exactly what has happened to so many bee keepers and they end up giving up bee keeping. One such lost 17 bee hives in one night at Machakos. Another farmer in Matuga, Kwale County lost 50 bee hives to the honey badger and closed shop. We met another farmer who lost 50 bee hives to the honey badger too. We came across a very sad story in Kitui where in 2022, not only did the honey badgers destroy bee hives, but also killed someone! How sad that is. We also came across an investment group that lost 100 bee hives investment to the Honey badger too. When people lose this kind of bee hives to the honey badger, they mostly give up further worsening the already dire honey supply situation. Once again, Mister Bee Concrete Bee Hives are Honey Badger free! It’s the way to go.
